MARK II
Discontinued 2035.
All registered Mark II units have been recalled under GCAIS Directive 7.1.
Introduced in 2032, the Mark II generation represented a breakthrough in realistic companionship design. Facial features, body proportions, and skin texture could be fully customized, producing units visually indistinguishable from human subjects.
The period between 2032 and 2035 is now commonly referred to as the Mark II Incident. Unauthorized use of Mark II units at public gatherings, international travel under forged documents, and the impersonation of public figures prompted the regulatory intervention that led to the current Mark III recognition standards.
All Mark II units were recalled by mandate of the Global Committee on AI Safety. Owners were offered a 50% discount on Mark III replacement units. Continued operation of any Mark II unit constitutes a criminal offense and is subject to mandatory decommissioning.
Archive reference, 2034. Mark II units were visually indistinguishable from human subjects.
